Im very excited to happy to announce that 5% of monthly sales will be going to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for the Cure.
My mother, aunt and my grandmother are all survivors and I want to make sure I keep it a practice in not only my personal life but for Mountain Girl Clothing to be part of brining awareness towards women and their families who face breast cancer in their lives.
So know that a portion of your purchase goes towards a greater good!

Getting Back To Sewing and Doula Studying!

I'm not sure WHERE the time went this weekend but I am finally back in the studio to clean up from the hurricane of a weekend I've had and to start working again, sending orders out etc!
I am a newly certified Doula and have been a bit distracted from my Doula reading so I walked down to the ToadStool Bookshop yesterday and bought a new doula book to help me get reading again! It's called A Holistic Guide To Pregnancy and Childbirth by Deepak Chopra MD.
So far it's great!
I would recommend visting the Doulas of North America website to anyone who is even remotely interested in the role of a Doula plays for laboring women and their families.  Studying this gorgeous and lost art has brought so much joy to my life and I can't wait to get out there and support some more lovely women throughout their labors!

*What is a doula?
The word "doula" comes from the ancient Greek meaning "a woman who serves" and is now used to refer to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth; or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.
Studies have shown that when doulas attend birth, labors are shorter with fewer complications, babies are healthier and they breastfeed more easily.

Mountain Girl Studio Gets a Make Over

I've been saving up for awhile to purchase lots of storage items to help me organize my sewing studio...
I also LIVE in my studio on the opposite side of the room so it's been a challenge to incorporate the two..but I think I've got a lot more harmony going on in the space now!
Now if I could just translate that organized harmony into the other parts of my life...Id be smooth sailing!

Here are some pictures...I spent all weekend going through all my materials and supplies after going to rummage sales all Friday and Saturday <3
Thanks for stopping by...Happy Columbus Day!

The Many Beds of Paisley The Mountain Dog

One more day til the rummage sale extravaganza begins and Im getting all my bags ready to be filled to the brim with new goodies to transform for Mountain Girl.

Just for fun I thought I'd share some of the many beds my dog has taken as her own in the past few months...
If something is soft, squishy or even remotely padded....she will make it her bed.
She's a rescue from Puerto Rico, she's seven and I'm pretty convinced we were meant to be together.

The chiquita banana cardboard box(her tongue ALWAYS stick out like that)

My bed...of course.

The lost and found bin at the children's theater

And her very own outdoor "log-a-loo" built especially for her.
Hope some of these photos made you laugh or smile!

Some Fiber Arts Nostalgia

Hello All
Im not sure if it's the weather but lately I've been thinking of my college days...which in retrospect wasn't that long ago...but it feels that way!
I was looking through some photos of mine after sewing last night and found some of my old fiber art "body armor" pieces and wanted to share them with you!

Sewing all day today then bringing the doggie to the vet for a check up!
Can't wait to get some new stuff up on Mountain Girl tomorrow!
Thanks for stopping by and doing some art gazing on this dreary Tuesday
